Best Of The Beatles
What we define as best is governed by what we like the most, and so everyone's opinion of what is best varies. This section may be useful for 'beginning' fans who'd like to know what in particular to keep an eye out for, or people who just want to know what I like about the Beatles. So here is everything. From my favorite Beatle right down to my opinion of the best song on Anthology 3 disc one. If I can explain why, I will.

Favorite Beatle
Definately John. Something about his off the wall, trite and biting sense of humor just appeals to me. I am quite aware that he could be a real jerk sometimes, but we are all human, and John just seems to intrigue me. Maybe there's a bit of a martyr syndrome, too. The other three Beatles take turns being my second favorite.

Favorite Pictures
I collect pictures like some people gather bottlecaps. I am very much a visually-oriented person, and so by nature I have favorite pictures of the Beatles. Here they are in no particular order.

George:

I think I like this picture of George best just for its artistic value. I'm not one for memorabilia shots, and although this really doesn't do much if you want to know what he actually looks like, it appeals to me. There is something very deep about it.

Paul:

I really love this picture of Paul. It is something about the way he holds his hands, the lack of a plastic smile. It looks like the photographer caught him off-guard, being himself, and those are the best kind. Although Paul isn't my favorite Beatle, this is one of my favorite pictures of all time.

Ringo:

I just like this picture of Ringo because it is just a great picture.

John:

and

I actually have two favorite John pictures, but seeing as he's my favorite Beatle I feel no guilt. The first one is just so cute and I think the second one is simply hilarious.

Group:

I saw this in the big silver anthology book and simply melted. This is a kind of fuzzy redition of it, but if you ever see the book I'm talking about, you'll know what I mean.

More than one but less than four Beatles:

This I think speaks for itself.

Favorite Album
This one was close, and I certainly have my moments when I am in the mood for a certain album, but I must say that Abbey Road is the best. There are simply too many songs on it that reach me for it not to be my favorite album. I would definately recommend it as a first-buy Beatles album. Close seconds here were Magical Mystery Tour and The White Album

Abbey Road

Favorite Beatles Movie
Although I like all of the Beatles' movies, Help! is my favorite. A Hard Day's Night is just too full of bad puns, Magical Mystery Tour has no plot, Yellow Submarine is just weird, and I haven't seen Let It Be in a long time. Help! has the best plot, for me, and I like the tacky jokes in that one. It has nothing to do with the fact that 1965 is my favorite year for the Beatles' appearence, and that I love the idea of sleeping in a pit...

Help!

Favorite All-Time Beatles Song
The choice for this was very, very close, and in the end it came down to two. Strawberry Fields Forever and Real Love. I absolutely love both of them, but I have to say that tradition won over novelty in this case. It was Strawberry Fields Forever. I also like Something and A Day In The Life.

Strawberry Fields Forever is on the Magical Mystery Tour album.

Favorite Song To Play On The Piano
By far, my favorite song to play on the piano is For No One. Parts of it are very simple and powerful, while others are complicated enough to challenge me. I also like to play A Day In The Life.

For No One is on the Revolver album.

Favorite Song To Play On Guitar
I'm Only Sleeping.  I also like A Day In The Life and You've Got To Hide Your Love Away, but I'm not that good at the guitar yet.

Twist And Shout is on the Please Please Me album.

Best Compliation Of Sheet Music
While I'm on the subject of playing instruments and, by association, sheet music, let me tell you what I think is the best collection out there. It's this very expensive little white book (which comes in its own matching white box) called "The Beatles: The Complete Scores". If you only play one instrument, this isn't very exciting, but for someone like me who plays many and has dubbing capability, it's incredible. It has between its precious ivory covers the parts for every instrumant and vocal of all the Beatles' publicized songs. (With the sad exception of Free As A Bird and Real Love) It even has lyrics and sheet music for Revolution #9, and for all of you who know that song, you know that's a feat of nature. It's done by Hal Leonard, and definately has my kudos.

The Albums
All right, so I already told you what my favorite album was, but you're looking for a better case study of the Beatles' music as whole. Well, here are my favorites, listed by album. I hope it helps those of you just starting out as fans to get an idea of how the Beatles changed over the years. Please keep in mind that while I am singling out tracks in particular off of these albums, it by no means indicates I dislike the other music on the CD. I love all these songs, it is simply that I think the ones listed below are the pick of the flock.
